Your customers have access to your Jira system? With the “catworkx Restricted Role Assignment” add-on you can prevent that (accidentally) the wrong users get assigned project roles. The Jira administrator can define groups whose members are available for selection for a project role. Users who are not in these groups cannot be selected in the roles dialog. In addition to the “Restricted Role Assignment” add-on, the “Project Metadata” add-on from catworkx is also required.
By default, each project administrator can assign project roles to users and groups. Mistakes can happen: for example, due to typos or when users have the same (or very similar) names. If your customers also have access to relevant Jira projects, special care should be taken when assigning project roles.
“catworkx Restricted Role Assignment” brings two new security features that allow project administrators to control the assignment of project roles:
- Only a Jira administrator can add groups to roles.
- The Jira administrator can specify groups whose members are offered for selection in the roles dialog. Users who are not in the configured groups cannot be selected.
The configuration of the users available for selection is carried out via the “catworkx Project Metadata” add-on, with which additional information (metadata) can be stored for a project.
