For four applications Atlassian has published new releases in August 2020. In our overview, we have compiled the new features of Jira Software Server 8.12, Jira Service Desk 4.12, Confluence 7.7, Bitbucket 7.5 – both in the server and data center versions.
Jira Software Server & Data Center 8.12
In the new version of Jira Software (Server and Data Center) 8.12 Atlassian has released the following features:
- New enhanced audit functions and reports that include these features:
- Additional events have been added to the security area.
- Administrators receive a notification when data is deleted from the database.
- Improvements of the User Interface (UI).
- The ability to add Secure Administrator Sessions (WebSudo) to the Global View.

- Enhanced accessibility: Background with discreet buttons (which can be set in the personal settings). Users with visual impairments can perceive discreet buttons more easily if they look just like normal buttons.
- Commission of users just-in-time for SAML/OIDC (only in the Data Center variant): This function has been available since version 8.11 and includes
- Just-in-time creation of users and groups, which helps to avoid excessive directory synchronization.
- Better support for SAML/OIDC integrations with internal directories (continuous update of user information, including groups).

- Enhanced User Picker: The User Picker has been optimized. The selection menu now shows the user’s full name and avatar. This way, the user selection for custom fields has the same appearance as the user’s system fields, such as “Reporter” and “Assignee”.

Jira Service Desk Server & Data Center 4.12
The new version 4.12 of Jira Service Desk for servers and data centers brings the following improvements:
- Confluence Cloud Knowledge Bases:
Many customers deploy their Atlassian products across servers, data centers and/or cloud environments. With this integration, Jira Service Desk customers (server or data center) can connect their server or data center instance to a Confluence Cloud instance that can serve as a knowledge base for a project.

- OAuth 2.0 support for Microsoft:
In Jira Service Desk 4.10, Atlassian has introduced OAuth 2.0 support for inbound email as Google and Microsoft intend to discard basic authentication. For Jira Service Desk, the first iteration of this support included only email from Google. Version 4.12 now also supports Microsoft. If you use Microsoft as your email provider, make sure you set up your OAuth 2.0 integration and update the email channels your customers use to create requests.

Confluence Server & Data Center 7.7
The release of Confluence for Server and Data Center 7.7 brings the following new features:

Webhooks provide an application with the ability to notify another application in real-time when an event occurs.
For example, you can use a webhook to tell a chat application to create a new channel or room when someone creates a new room for their team or project. Confluence waits for the “Create space” event and sends a message to the URL (the endpoint) specified by the chat application.

Bitbucket Server & Data Center 7.5
With the new version 7.5 of Bitbucket for servers and data centers Atlassian has introduced the following new features:
- Just-in-Time (JIT) deployment:
It enables es Atlassian applications to integrate better with the Identity Provider (IdP) used in each case. There they often have predefined group memberships that specify what access a new user should have when they use Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) or OpenID Connect (OIDC) SSO for the first time.

This feature makes it easier for users to define preferred default names for branches for new repositories. Bitbucket for Server and Data Center 7.5 offers two possibilities:- Admins can set a system-wide default custom branch name for all new repositories.
